It turns out, the worms are edible and it tastes like grapefruit. Just kidding, but when the waiter brought over a pot of aloe with little “worms” on it, we had no idea what was going on. Lastly, for dessert, we had a pot of plant. Then we had pieces of breaded cod fish, cured ham with potatoes and sauce, and a mini ham sandwich (not that special). Another one of my favourite was the oyster with cavier and their special sauce. There was also a sashimi cone with salmon and tuna, and a avocado roll with fish inside. Next was my favourite, the quill eggs on a noodle nest. Another was a crispy roll wrapped with cured ham. Next was a some kind of cheese filling with cavier on a sea salt cracker. Once it was in my mouth, It bursted open and I tasted a rich olive flavour-super interesting! The next was a piece of sardine on toast with silver flakes sprinkled on top, a little salty, but also interesting. The first dish looked like an olive, but it was almost the size of an egg yolk. It is no wonder that this restaurant requires reservations, since it is super popular and often times, the reservation list is 2-3 months long (good thing Cherrie booked ahead)! Also, this place is very expensive, so I wouldn’t recommend coming here while you’re starving! Not to mention, the aesthetics of their tapas is extraordinary, I can’t imagine how much work must have gone through to make one dish. The chefs would spend a great deal of time inventing and testing which pairings would be great together and which food combination would bring out incredible flavours. It is widely known as a restaurant that focuses its entire cuisine in molecular gastronomy (if you look up YouTube, there’s tons of videos of how chefs experiment with food). The last place that I’ll rave about in Barcelona is a restaurant called Tickets. Her plate was packed and layered with grilled meats for only 13 euros!-CRAZZZY. They have good portions for a decent price and their cream potatoes are incredible, and I don’t normally eat potatoes! Shandon and I had steak with cream potatoes, while Cic had grilled chicken with salad, and Larissa went a little adventurous and got herself a mixed grilled.

(Skipping ahead of timeline) The night before Cicely left Barcelona, Shandon, Larissa, and I all went out for dinner to La Malandrina. I for one, am not too crazy for dessert since I’m a chocolate and ice cream kinda person, but the whisky tart had the perfect amount of sweetness and liquor-BRAVO!

The chicken was a bit ordinary, nothing spectacular, but the suckling pig was outta this world! A perfect combination of fat and lean meat with crispy skin soaked in a sweet and tangy sauce-definitely a favourite! As for dessert, we had mixed sorbet and whisky tart. Then our main dishes were chicken with ratatouille and catalan suckling pig. To start off, we had boiled seafood, canelonis with spinach and cod fish, and sangria. They had more options in their menu of the day than 4Gats did, but since this was Cherrie’s second time at the place, she knew exactly what to order. This restaurant in particular, requires that you make reservations one-month in advance (thanks Cherrie!) and they are open only on selective hours and dates. It has also been frequented by Gaudí as well-I guess besides designing amazing one-of-a-kind architecture, he is a foodie too. Next meal (not on the same day of course) took place at a restaurant called Can Culleretes and its the oldest restaurants (1786) in Catalonia and second in Spain according to the Guinness Book of Records.
